A MUGGER dragged a woman into a dark alleyway at night – putting her in fear of what a judge called her "worst nightmare".
Wayne Ansell, aged 33, grabbed the student by the waist, placed his hand over her mouth and demanded her purse, a court heard.
But she managed to shout "rapist" and her attacker ran away empty-handed.

Teenager's rape sentence reduced by Plymouth judge
A TEENAGER who raped one girl and sexually abused another has had his custodial sentence reduced by a year.
Kyle Taylor, aged 19, had been sent to a young offender institution for a total of 44 months after admitting four offences.
But Judge Paul Darlow brought him back to Plymouth Crown Court after reviewing the sentence.

Plymouth teenagers face jail for string of robberies
TWO teenagers have admitted a string of robberies.
Patrick O'Brien and Ben Rees-Jones, both aged 19, pleaded guilty at Plymouth Crown Court to taking money from three men.
But the men deny that a knife was used in any of the offences – as claimed by the Crown Prosecution Service.
O'Brien, of Colwill Walk, Mainstone, and Rees-Jones, of Great Berry Road, Crownhill, pleaded guilty to robbing two men of £20 on September 27.

A bank has agreed to repay £3,000 after hackers stole money from the account of South Devon celebrities The Krankies.
The 80s TV stars, known to their bank as Ian and Janette Tough, were at home in the South Devon at the time of the offence.

A ROMANIAN taxi driver says he was threatened and racially abused by a group of drunken passengers who stole his phone, smashed his mirror and tried to climb inside his cab.

A burglar who stole a television set from a friend's house while wearing an electronic tag was caught on CCTV.
Ryan Smith had often been invited into the woman's home as a guest and a friend, Plymouth Crown Court was told, but he burgled her home and stole her 40-inch flat screen television set while she took her son to the dentist.

POLICE say they have identified all the individuals believed to have been responsible for a number of alleged offences involving a Romanian taxi driver.
The allegations included the use of threats, racial abuse, criminal damage and the theft of a mobile phone.

Tavistock coppers sniff out cannabis plants
TAVISTOCK police officers sniffed out a small cannabis growing operation while on patrol.
The officers caught a whiff of the pungent plant at around 11am on November 7 at a property in Dolvin Road, Tavistock.
They gained entry to the building and in a bedroom found a small tent. Inside they found 12 cannabis plant stems and a quantity of herbal matter being dried out.
A 42-year-old man was later cautioned in connection with the cannabis.

A WOMAN has appeared in court accused of blackmailing and sexually assaulting a man.
Gemma Pinkerton, aged 25, has denied demanding money with menaces and indecently touching the man on July 28.
