KILLER Donald Pemberton suffered "significant mental health difficulties", his barrister told the court.
Martin Meeke QC said that a psychiatrist who has assessed Pemberton suspected developing schizophrenia.
But the court also heard that the symptoms may have been caused by regular mephedrone abuse.
The barrister said he still suffered those symptoms even after going to prison and withdrawing from the drug.
