TWO mothers appeared in court to defend why their daughters had allegedly played truant from their city schools.
Rosalind Stephens and Keilee Daw both appeared at Plymouth Magistrates' Court on Friday on unrelated charges of having a child of school age who failed to attend regularly.
Stephens stands accused of failing to make sure her 13-year-old daughter attended All Saints Academy in Pennycross every day between February 2014 and January 2015.
