Armed police officers were called to reports of men with guns in Plymouth - only to discover the weapon was a water pistol.
Armed Response Sergeant Harry Tangye said the call came in at around 1am today.
The caller said they had seen "men in cars with guns" in Plymouth.
Sgt Tangye said his team "quickly established" things were "not as first reported."
