Police negotiators detained an "aggressive suicidal man" on the Tamar bridge in the early hours of this morning.
Armed response teams were called to the area just before 1am.
Sgt Harry Tangye said the man was armed with a knife, but a negotiator "successfully got him to safety"."The key is for time and space," Sgt Tangye added.
