A Torpoint headteacher and former Devonport police sergeant who created a much-praised safeguarding children scheme have recently travelled to London, Belfast and The Hague to help others set up the Plymouth-born initiative.
Operation Encompass was the brainchild of former officer David Carney-Haworth and his wife, Elisabeth, who is headteacher at Torpoint Nursery and Infants School.

Fire crews were called to reports of a car on fire in Plymouth this afternoon, Thursday.A team from Camels Head attended the vehicle fire at Miller Court in Millbay just after midday. Man walking around Plymouth streets with axe tasered by armed...
A man walking around Plymouth armed with a hatchet axe was tracked down and tasered by police.
Armed officers tracked down the 24-year-old man in Ernesettle and "guided" him to a taser before arresting him at about 11.20am today, Thursday.
The man was taken to hospital as a precaution and remains with mental health professionals.
It is not yet known where exactly the man was located, but eyewitnesses saw a police helicopter hovering above the Ernesettle area around the same time...
