A MAN accused of eight counts of rape against two women is to face a judge and jury in February. John Evans, aged 52, allegedly abused the complainants a decade apart. He attended Plymouth Crown Court to plead not guilty to two charges of rape against one woman between 2000 and 2012. Evans, appearing via videolink from Exeter Prison, also denied six counts of rape against a second woman in 2013 and 2014. He was remanded in custody until a trial on February 15.

A PRISONER accused of murdering a fellow inmate at HMP Dartmoor has appeared before a judge for the first time.
