AN ANGRY man ran into the street with a knife after he was attacked on his doorstep by five people, a court heard.
Andrew Smith, aged 39, picked up the blade in anger and chased after the men.
He then broke the knife in two and threw it aside, Plymouth Crown Court heard.

CITY police officers say new recruits should not have to have a degree in order to join the force.
There is currently no service-wide minimum qualification for new officers, but the College of Policing has suggested the job is now of "degree-level complexity".

POLICE want to hear from anyone offered a children's trike stolen from an Eggbuckland nursery.
Thieves targeted the Austin Farm nursery school , sometime between Friday November 6 and November 9.
Three children's trikes were taken from a secure store shed which was then set alight.

PART of London Gatwick airport has been evacuated this morning after reports of a man with a gun.
The airport's North Terminal was evacuated "for the protection of the public" after what police described as a suspicious article was found.

POLICE searching for a missing Plymouth woman have recovered a body from the Mount Wise shoreline.
It is understood a young boy found the body on the shore off Richmond Walk near Blagdon's boatyard at around 2.30pm today and alerted an adult who in turn called police.

Delayed Plymouth murder trial to begin on Wednesday
TWO men accused of murdering Tanis Bhandari on New Year's Day are to face trial on Wednesday.
Donald Pemberton, aged 21, and 22-year-old Ryan Williams are jointly charged with murdering the 27-year-old builder in the early hours of January 1.

Plymouth man must pay £1,000 to terrified woman he harassed
A PLYMOUTH man has been ordered to pay £1,000 to a woman he harassed, leaving her scared for her safety.
Peter Lawson, from Plympton, left the woman in fear of her property and her safety, a court was told.
The 38-year-old, of Wolverwood Lane, admitted harassment of the woman in Kingsteignton between July 23 and August 1 when he appeared before magistrates in South Devon.

Man admits taking part in drug deal in Plymouth
A MAN has admitted being involved in a drug deal.
Jack Goodwin, aged 22, appeared at Plymouth Crown Court to plead guilty to making an offer to supply MDMA.
He took part in a deal for the Class A drug in the city between October last year and this January.
