The Co-op was today fined £400,000 over the death of a devoted customer who slipped on water from a leaking display that had been faulty for nearly two days.

Police are continuing to hunt for a suspect following an assault in Devonport.
Officers found a pistol, believed to be an airgun, after an alleged assault at a property in Pembroke Street on on Saturday afternoon.

Carpets causing traffic trouble on A38 in Plymouth
Police are trying to help prevent a pile-up on the A38 after rolls of carpet fell from a vehicle onto the road.
Motorists were reported to be swerving to avoid the carpet material which was spotted at around 4.45pm near the Saltash-bound stretch of the Parkway near the Devonport turnoff.
A police spokesman said a "large quantity of carpet" was causing "traffic disruption" during the rush hour.
