A MAN has avoided going to jail for punching a smoker outside a pub and damaging his teeth.
Yan Veitch, aged 27, later attacked a police officer who came to arrest him, Plymouth Crown Court heard.
He struck the man in the face and to the top of his head outside a birthday party in a pub.
Handing him a suspended prison sentence, Judge Paul Darlow said: "This was an unprovoked and somewhat sustained attack which left the victim with some damage to his teeth.
