A MAN racially abused and spat at black police officer after a string of thinly veiled insults, a court heard.
David Mears, aged 59, abused the constable and spat on to his stab vest as he was being taken to a police station.
The man had previously told the officer and his colleagues that he apparently had a black cat called "Sambo", Plymouth Crown Court heard.
He also made pointed reference to black clouds.
