POLICE commandeered a day tripper boat to help rescue a man who had gone into fast moving water off the Barbican this evening.
Police were called to the waters edge near the Elphinston car park in Madeira Rd at 7.20pm after a man reported his friend, aged in his 50s, had gone into the water fully clothed.
Officers were first on the scene and attempted to throw a life ring but the man was swept out on strong current within moments.
Coastguard and RNLI crews were called to attend but fearing...
