A POLICE inspector and call handler faced disciplinary action for the way they dealt with a man who later died from methadone poisoning, it has been revealed.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) says Devon and Cornwall Police "could have responded better" to concerns for the welfare of 34-year-old Nigel McGuire.
An inquest heard that Mr McGuire told his fiancee he had consumed 600ml of methadone, and almost 12 hours later police broke down his door and found him dead.
