Thieves set fire to a petrol station in an apparent bid to steal cash from a cash machine in the early hours of this morning north of Plymouth.
Police and firefighters were sent to the blaze at the Texaco garage in Yelverton, just before 4am.
Fire crews from Yelverton, Crownhill and Tavistock were all sent to the scene.
"On arrival the crews confirmed that this was a fire involving the cash machine at the front of the store," a fire service spokesman said.
