A neighbour's cameras have captured the blaze raging - just metres from homes and cars.
Firefighters were sent to Hospital Road in Greenbank shortly after 3.20pm.
The fire broke out in a children's playground.
Thick smoke could be seen from as far away as Drake Circus and the Hoe.
