The new £5 note is apparently 'next to impossible' to forge, but there are new rumours that forgeries may be being produced.
The Bank of England is said to have launched a probe following police warnings about attempts to produce counterfeit £5 notes.
The bank said it was unaware of any direct forgeries of the new polymer £5 note but admitted the note's design had been crudely copied on to paper in a small number of incidents.
