Robust new sentences for a raft of criminal offences are being introduced in 2017 - with TV licence evaders, speeding drivers, and railway ticket far dodgers all in the firing line.
From April this year, courts across England and Wales will have the power to jhand out either longer sentences or tougher fines for a range of offences.
